The tide pool at the island's western tip bathes above 30°C at LOW TIDE, and the tide is the only schedule published for it. The fumarole fields on the Furnas lake shore are free to walk, passed by a 9.5 km lakeshore trail. No venue on the island requires a swim cap.

Towns, Tea And Pineapples
The capital
Ponta Delgada is the arrival town with the international airport. The municipal market on Rua do Mercado dates from 1848 and runs Saturday 07:00-14:00, closed Sunday. The port gates and the old centre are open-air public monuments with no entry fees anywhere.
